Smoke Detectors

In the event of a fire, a smoke alarm can save your life as well as the lives of your loved ones. 65% of reported home fire deaths result from fires in homes without working smoke detectors. We encourage all city residents to have at least one smoke alarm in their home.

Smoke detectors are readily available at most hardware, home supply, or general merchandise stores. In an effort to protect lives and property, Nash Fire Department also offers free smoke detectors for families that cannot afford to purchase them.

Remember to test your smoke detectors regularly and change the batteries every six months. Also, it is recommended to replace any smoke alarm after 10 years.
